What can I do if a home health agency will not take me as a patient?

If the home health agency (HHA) refuses to take you as a patient, you will have to call around to find another Medicare-certified HHA. It is possible that another HHA would be able to give you the services you need. If you are in a Medicare private health plan, you may be able to call your plan to get a list of HHAs that are within your plan's network. If you cannot find an HHA in your area able to take you, talk with your doctor about other care options that may be available to you in your area.

You can also call your local State Health Insurance Assistance Program or the Eldercare Locator at 800-677-1116 for referrals to other care options in your area.
