Long-term care insurance and Medicare

Question 3 of 3 (use "Last" or "Next" buttons to see more)
Last Update: March 04, 2011

There is no formal coordination between long-term care insurance and Medicare. You will get your Medicare coverage regardless of whether you receive benefits from a private long-term care insurance policy.

For example, if you are in a nursing home for personal care that is being paid for by a long-term care insurance policy, Medicare will continue to cover your medical care, including doctor visits, diagnostic tests and any other medical services that Medicare covers.
