Medicare Interactive (MI) is designed to help you escape the health care maze and get the care you need. MI is brought to you by the Medicare Rights Center (MRC), the largest independent source of health care information and assistance in the United States for people with Medicare. Since its founding in 1989, MRC has been helping older and disabled Americans, their caregivers and the professionals who serve them, understand their health care rights and benefits so that they get the health care to which they are entitled.
This User Manual will help you use MI to find the information you need as quickly as possible.
MI offers four tools: If you are accessing MI through one of our partner sites, you may not have access to all of them. That is in part because some tools, such as MI University, are intended for a professional audience and are not made publicly available.
From the Medicare Interactive Home Page you can access all of the tools available.

- MI Counselor: Answers your questions about Medicare rights, benefits and options.
- MI Community: Allows you to share your experiences and learn from others.
- MI Local Services: Offers you a wealth of information on community agencies, clinics and other organizations offering assistance at low or no cost.
- MI University: Lets you learn the ins and outs of Medicare in a fun, interactive format, and provides you with prepackaged PowerPoint® presentations and talking points that you can customize and use to educate others about a range of Medicare topics.
The MI Home Page also has a Tip of the Week (Figure 1-a). The tip changes every Monday and offers useful information on how to stay healthy. What’s more, whenever anything in Medicare changes, look here first for the latest update. To read the full tip, click on the Read On link at the bottom of the Tip of the Week box.
