An Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) is a hearing officer who presides over appeals to Medicare by Medicare beneficiaries or their providers. In Medicare’s appeals process, the ALJ makes decisions at the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA) level.
